The newest multipurpose nuclear-powered submarine (hunter- killer - "hunter- killer" according to the American classification) U.S. NAVY "Hawaii" returned from the test march, reports Defencetalk. The submarine, built on shipyard Newport News Shipbuilding, left to sea for the first time. In the course of tests were checked the basic possibilities of boat - sinking, the maximum speed in the above-water and underwater position, noise level. According to the results of tests they will finish boat in accordance with the demands of crew and technical specialists. APL Ssn-776 "Hawaii" relates to the type "Virginia". Submarines of this type, are the first large warships U.S. NAVY, designed after the end of the "Cold War". The underwater displacement of boat is 7800 tons, length - 115 it is meter, width - 10,4 meters. The speed of complete running composes 34 knots, crew - 134 people, submersion depth - to 500 it is meter. The armament of boat consists of four 533- millimeter torpedo tubes and 12 launching towers for the cruise missiles "Tomahawk". Submarines of the type "Virginia" are equipped with the powerful hydroacoustic complexes, which make it possible to detect low-noise purposes on the distant distance. APL "Hawaii" and other uniform submarines, it is fitted out for conducting the special operations. For this purpose the boats are equipped with the underwater robots of different designation, with the tow trucks of combat swimmers and with other equipment. On the housing there is an adapter, which makes it possible to transport container with the special equipment or minisubmarine. After the necessary modifications the submarine will leave to sea for conducting the second test march. The final delivery of boat to fleet is planned in 2007.
